Smooth worn rubble on a sea shore

So. It looks like I didn’t get around to admitting I’d made a first quarter plan let alone making it public. But it also looks as though I haven’t made a plan since the first quarter of 2024.

Fair enough, there was a lot going on in the Blaelock Household last year, including replacing the floor, so I didn’t end up doing much of anything other than packing and observing trades coming and going for most of the year.

Clever Girl was beside herself with all the extra pats and lunch leftovers…

Q1 2025 Review

My plan for the first quarter of 2025 was basically to catch up 2024’s never ending to-do list, and to create new routines to set me up for the rest of my life in this house. (Not planning on moving again unless it’s feet first out the door).

So, in terms of the Q1 2025 Review, I managed to get some of the list completed.

I discarded a bunch of stuff.

And I’m carrying the rest of it forward to Q2 2025, and the rest of the year.

Only time will reveal whether the bits I got done were the bits that’ll make the most difference. Lists can be tricky that way.

Q2 2025 Plan

The Q2 2025 Plan continues the process of creating new routines (also known as habits), and adding feedback loops to keep me engaged in the “work.”

Plus, I’ve created anchors, to remind me and keep me focused on my why.

my travel mug with the Martha Rosette Lutz quote "the opposite of winning isn't losing it;s quitting."

Like this one.

That I use at my desk and take with me when I catch the train.

Which is available to buy here if it inspires you too.

Plus some other stuff with the same quote.

Goals

My goals are more or less a repeat of a simpler time…, except this time I have a combination of keystone activities (core activities that ultimately produce the result you want) and projects (structured tasks taken over a fixed term to achieve certain outcomes).

Goal #1: Stay married to DB

Keystone activities

  • cook his favourite meals
  • do the chores that annoy him the most when they don’t get done
  • never move anything he puts down

Goal #2: Take better care of my health

While my health is “good” and stable, I want it to remain that way. I have lost some weight, but am advised to lose more… And reduce my cholesterol and diabetes markers. Which comes with losing the weight.

Keystone activities

  • eat better (more vegetables, more fibre and less meat, less salt, less sugar), and stop eating at 7pm.
  • move more (walk Clever Girl every day, try to get back to 10,000 steps a day, and go back to weekly yoga)
  • sleep better (there are some other household issues which may need to be take care of before this happens)

Goal #3: Stephen King Famous

Sigh.

Somewhere along the line, I lost my writing habit, so it’s fairly important to get that going again.

Plus, I have something in the order of 100 books in my publishing queue, and at the rate I’m going, it’ll take about eight years to get them all out… Not counting the ones I might write in the meantime. If I ever get back into the habit…

Keystone activities

  • write at least a sentence every day. Work up to an hour or two a day.

Publishing Projects

  • publish 17 stories in 3 collections

And that’s the plan!

Once again, doable if there aren’t any unforeseen circumstances.
