201607

July 2016 was another backwards and forwards month with nothing to show for it. It feels like yesterday I was reviewing June and nothing has changed.

Virtue June July Notes
beauty: body
Weight ≤61kg by 10 October

🙂

63.4 kg

🙁

64.9 kg

Not losing weight. I don’t know if it’s that little bit extra making me so tired, or if I have slept so much that it has just crept on. Very brisk visit to the clinic where I saw a registrar who did not tell me to lose weight. Weird.

Shared the Perils of Disrespect.

beauty: presence
build a practical and workable wardrobe that reflects who I am

🙂

😐 Starting to feel like this year’s purchasing plan needs to focus on crisp woven fabrics and not soft, comfortable, stretchy ones.

Shared my thoughts about dressing for yard work, and dressing to equal your virtue.

beauty: home
sparse yet comfortable happy home that reflects our authentic selves

😐

😐 I’ve done some tidying up, but you can’t really tell. The dogs are shedding like mad and that’s not helping! Had a very good run of dropping things, but fortunately no major casualties.
beauty: garden
lush and abundant garden providing habitats, weather protection and a mystical threshold

🙂

🙂 The Spring bulbs are making their presence felt which is very cheering given how many plants we have recently lost.
friendship: creatures

  • get the dogs well and healthy
  • develop habitats to support native species

🙂

🙂 No further sign of the fox, and we are starting to feel as though we have imagined it. The magpies are starting to pull strands of hessian from the dog beds, so it’s a good indication that nesting has commenced. And the kookaburras are here again. I’m sure where they are nesting given their tree was storm damaged last year, but it’s nice to see them again.

Both dogs have had bouts of illness which hasn’t helped my tiredness; a vet visit is coming up.

friendship: friends

  • maintain and improve relationships with international and e- friends
  • make new friends (especially local)

🙂

🙂 Went out for dinner with Katy and Toseland and tried some new dishes I haven’t had before.

Planned out a zombie dinner party.

friendship: contribution
give something back to the community and the planet

🙂

🙂 I’ve been in and out of town a lot this month, so I’ve made some minimally viable contributions in terms of holding doors and shopping bags and taking photos for people.

And I voted.

pleasure: adventure
taking risks, international vacations and just doing stuff

🙂

🙂 This month has been quite adventurous with my first podcast interview. Even though it was too early in the morning for a glass of wine I had such a great time. I also checked out the 200 Years of Australian Fashion exhibition – more or less slid in the door as it closed. Should have gone sooner and shared my findings. I’ll write a post about it later.

Made some little changes to the website, which was fun, and hopefully look better!

pleasure: recharge
rest, relax, recharge

  • turn off the computer by 9 pm
  • read two books per month

😐

😐 Still turning the computer off on time (yay), but it means my email is building up and I am less active on social media. Still not reading recreationally as much as I would like. Reading a lot researching Holistic Personal Finance. Celebrated the wind.
wisdom: choice
having the capacity to make choices

🙂

😐 Choosing to sleep. I am going to have to choose to wake up soon. Posted my mid-year progress review.
wisdom: growth

  • become a more complex person by challenging my beliefs
  • developing my mind and having the courage of my convictions
  • choosing me for me

🙂

😐 I bought some books and courses but haven’t made the time to read/do them yet. However, I did watch some little videos by Carrie Wilkerson who argues that you need to make a mental division between working on your business (admin etc) and working in your business (e.g. product development).

And I started sorting through my “download to look at later” file and deleted a whole load of documents I have grown beyond – 20 GB in fact. There’s still about 2 GB to go plus my Evernote account. I got my inbox down to 45 but it’s up to 200 again.

wealth: income
$12,000 income

🙂

🙁 More royalties a whopping 0.23% of target this month (2.75% in total), though as it’s not enough to be paid that’s a bit of a guess. It grieves me, but having a year’s worth of sales data now, I’m going to have to reduce my target income. I’m going down to $12,000, but even $1,000 a month is an enormous stretch target so I’ll have to work hard to sell more books.
wealth: expenditure
reduce expenditure

😐

🙂 I thought about luxury but was very well-behaved and didn’t make any significant purchases this month. Doesn’t stop me dreaming!

According to my productivity journal, I didn’t feel as though I achieved much most of the month (not really surprising), but I did have a couple of gold star days. I really should be more gentle about my expectations for my productivity.
