Alexandria’s Adventure with The Style Podcast

Sadly, The Style Podcast is no longer available, but I decided to leave this post here, because it’s partly about taking risks, trying new things, and also quite flattering 😉

A couple of weeks ago I “met” Penelope Herbert (journalist, style maven, and fellow dog aficionado), of The Style Podcast. I had the very great pleasure of chatting with her about my book Build Your Signature Wardrobe.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, as part of my morning routine and with my activity tracker movement reminders. But I’m a writer who is used to carefully considering each word as I write it. Quite frankly, the idea of talking impromptu is terrifying! It’s like running out into the street with your eyes shut; you just don’t know what is going to happen. And even worse, it’s being recorded and once it’s out there, it’s out there forever.

I am sure we’ve all seen dozens of politicians caught out recently.

But I Did It Anyway!

When I meet new people I always want to know a little about the soul that lives inside them, and what makes them who they are. And listening to podcasts is a great way to get insight into the person behind the books or theories. And sometimes I am moved to mark their books as “Want-to-Read” in Goodreads because of what they said. It’s a long list.

So when Penelope asked to interview me, I held my courage in both hands and took a leap into the dark. If that’s not taking a risk I don’t know what is.

Luckily I didn’t have far to fall. Penelope bills it as an

interesting and humorous chat about fashion history, the philosophy of dressing, and why you probably CAN wear pleated skirts

and she calls me

intelligent, funny and forthright

So if doing the interview wasn’t enough of a risk for me, now I’m turning it over to you so you can make up your own mind. I’m standing in the middle of the road with my eyes shut! Let me know what you think.
