Deck Declutter

It’s finally warming up here at the moment, and after months of living with clutter both in and outside the house, we’ve finally done a deck declutter.

Setting up a nice space outside to sit and drink coffee or relax and enjoy the quiet.

Or gasp, sweat like a pig, and gulp cold water after a long dog walk.

Threw a bunch of stuff out, but there are still some bits and pieces that need new homes.

And of course, some larger bits and pieces (like my old bookshelves) that need disposing of.

We even started repainting that side of the house, though that’s not reflected in the photo.

I unpacked most of the boxes to sort them out, and repacked a bunch of stuff in boxes containing similar types of things, and we’re storing it at one end of the deck.

The garden’s still a mess, but if you position your chair just right, you can’t see the bulk of the mess.

Unless it’s dog messes needing their own kind of declutter.

And given we just mowed the lawn, I picked up the poo, so now we have a small clean meadow for Clever Girl to play.

Though now she’s becoming an adult, she prefers a good nap.

We’ll get to tidying the garden in due course. Bit by bit.

Finally.

But a freshly decluttered deck, looking over a freshly mown lawn is its’ own kind of heaven.

A relaxing oasis no matter the time of day. Though with the recent rains the mosquitos can be problematic, and I don’t know where the mosquito coils are, so I guess that had to go back on the shopping list.

I’d forgotten how much I need a clutter free space.

And I’d forgotten how much I need that clutter free space to unwind in.

Now that there aren’t trades coming and going all hours of the day and night.

Even the birds are back, enjoying the peace.

As do I.
