December 2023 Progress Report

Ah, December 2023 – the final lingering touch of one of my least favourite years.

More appointments… Only this time following up on the surgery, though as a bonus, visits to the Cookie Shop. (Which didn’t inspire the story, but did remind me to publish it).

December 2023 Highlights

The mastectomy recovery has slowed. Still swollen, and the lymphatic drainage and scar therapy isn’t progressessing as well as I’d hoped. May need to seek professional help.

We got the verandah fixed (definitely a well thought out purchase, as was the water bowl for the possums), and it is still feels amazing to stand underneath it and not get wet when it’s raining, (it’s rained a lot in the last few weeks). Looking forward (if the sun ever comes out) to sitting underneath it and enjoying that too!

Though there were enough warm nights to get out and look at the Christmas Lights.

But at least there’s been some cleaning up and throwing out in time for a fresh start to 2024.

Another month of not reading whole books – three this time. None of them my favourites.

โ€ข Second Spring โ€ข Minimalista โ€ข Chill and Prosper โ€ข

In the end, I only mangaged 88 books of my 104 book reading challenge. (I’ll be trying for 104 again next year).

Goals

I mentioned in the Q3 review the importance of knowing how much time you can spend on the projects. And as a result, planning for “good” and “bad” days.

So, the Q4 plan is to:

  • Rebrand my businesses.
  • Revitalise the websites.
  • Consolidate the online stores0
  • .Finish some of the long-term outstanding items.
  • Publish six new books
  • Get my back catalogue up for sale in my shop.
  • Fix up my websites SEO.

With the Keystone Activities of

  • Write for at least an hour a day.
  • Publish a collection and the five stories contained within it.
  • Submit 65 stories to fiction magazines (5/week)

Goal Scoring

As a refresher; the score is a percentage of the times I did the activity divided by the times I planned to. For example, I’m planning to publish 2 books a month, so if I only manage 1, the result is 50%. A โ€œgoodโ€ score is above 85%. I check in every week, but Iโ€™ll only note the averages here.

GoalsSCORENOTES
Write at least 50 words each day.9.68%Trying to get back into the habit of writing in the morning, and managed three days.
Publish six new books in Q4 (a collection and the five stories contained within it).16.67%Published The Cookie Shop. Still haven;t got the stories from Security Directorate Dossiers v2 out. Hopefully the indivudual short stories will all be out by the end of the year.
Submit 65 stories in Q426.15%No submissions in December, but 17 overall.

And that was December 2023! Kinda, maybe a good month? Especially for December 2023!

How did you go?
