December 2017; the last vestige of my annus horribilus (horrible year). And it wasn’t too bad. Though not terribly productive (in common with most Decembers).

Virtue Nov Dec Notes

Beauty: Body

I enjoy exercising my lean, healthy 59 kg body several times a week.

I walk more steps each day.

More Christmas food… And a bit of Christmas dinking too.

I have been plagued by dizzy spells that I think are related to my cataracts. Thank goodness they’ll be taken care of early in 2018. I’m also finding the heat harder to deal with. And I am retaining more fluid, though that does come with Summer anyway.

Beauty: Presence

I have thick glossy hair that compliments my beautiful clothes.

🙂 😐

I’m starting to feel very restless about my presence. I think it’s time to break out of block colours into patterns. Which makes it a bit of a shame that the fashion in store isn’t keeping up with me. Something else to add to the new year list. Along with taking my winter hat to be re-trimmed.

It might have been Christmas Party Outfits that started it.

Beauty: Home

I live in a comfortable home that soothes my soul.

Renovate bathroom

🙂 🙂

The new air-con is in, and working a treat. The dogs seem to appreciate it more than me – how lucky that cold air falls. I accidentally found out that double hung windows work by allowing hot air to flow out the top window (hot air rises) and drawing cool air in through the bottom. So obvious when you know how.

We’ve had a big clean up, and realised that we have some other decorating chores to add to our list. Things like painting, and replacing the carpet and so on. The kind of things that make you wonder if you are better off just moving house!

Beauty: Garden

My garden is lush and abundant, providing habitats, weather protection and a mystical threshold.

Landscape Garden

🙂 🙂 We’ve had a few trees and branches come down (including one I wrote a haiku about) which is irritating, but the new openings in the tree canopy are giving us ideas. Including, a Japanese style contemplation garden. I can hardly wait to get going on that one. Fortunately, no substantial hail damage.

Friendship: Friends

I love meeting new people, and as I am friendly and outgoing, I make friends easily.

🙂 🙂

One of the main reasons I haven’t been productive this month is all the Christmas catchups I’ve been doing. I’ve been trying to get some in the calendar for next year as well.

But I did think about a Great Depression Dinner Party and a Stay in Touch Holistic Spending Plan.

Friendship: Creatures

My creatures are happy and healthy and find my garden a haven.

🙂 🙂

My precious pretty boy is looking the picture of health and I am so happy. Maybe it’s my imagination, but he seems particularly loving as if he knows. And he’s letting me brush him, which is not something he has previously enjoyed. But it does leave a lot of dog hair to collect.

We have an adorable baby magpie that chases an empty plastic plant pot around the deck. It’s so puppy/kitten-like cute, but it makes a really annoying squawking noise.

Friendship: Contribution

I share my knowledge, time, and money with those who need it.

🙂  🙂 This month has been buying from small craftspeople and holding doors open for people with too much shopping.

Pleasure: Adventure

I am brave and adventurous not afraid to try new things.

🙂 😉 I really must pack a bag and plan for an adventure.

Pleasure: Recharge

I work hard and have the right to rest and recharge.

🙂 🙂

I’m getting better at staying awake, but I heard on one of my podcasts that taking a nap during that afternoon slump is good for both productivity and creativity so I’m going to stop feeling guilty about it.

Apparently, it takes about 25 minutes for the caffeine in a cup of coffee to hit, so the thing to do is drink a cup before you nap so you wake up on schedule.

Wisdom: Growth

I learn and grow every day.

🙂 🙂 I was watching a motivation webinar, and the presenter commented on the difference between gratitude (the feeling of thankfulness) and appreciation (thankful recognition of value). His point is that it’s better to appreciate than feel grateful because it’s active. Aren’t words amazing?

Wealth: Business Development

Select and attend a business-related conference or event – real not virtual.

🙂 😉 I really must do something about this…

Wealth: Income

I am a successful author making at least $1,000 per month.

🙂 😉

During December 2017 I sold 11 books and received ~$8.51 in income (not yet converted). My average monthly sales are up to five (!) but income down to $15.49.

I still have a way to go, to meet my target, but I’m working on the next book.

Wealth: Expenditure

Stick to the Spending Plan

🙂 🙂 Still Christmas spending, and with a sale on French butter biscuits, perhaps we went a smidgeon overboard.

According to my journal, December 2017 was a difficult health month, which is mildly concerning, but at least I have a hospital review in January. Sometimes it feels as though there isn’t a quiet space between dramas.

How did you get on in December?
