March 2017 Progress Report

March 2017 turns out to have been a big family month for me. My mother was ill, and I flew cross-country as you do when it seems like the end is near.

Having seen my first picture of my mother’s mother, I can see that we three are the same person. No wonder Mum and I are screwed up!

VirtueFebruaryMarchNotes
Beauty: body

  • Weigh โ‰ค59kg by 5 June 2017 (Discipline).
  • Book all the appropriate 2017 dental, medical and mental appointments, so they take place on schedule.
  • Join a local yoga class and pay for the term up front (Discipline).
๐Ÿ™‚
63.6 kg
๐Ÿ˜
63.5 kg
I took my time with my weigh in because I was afraid I had put on a lot of weight (judging by the fit of my clothes). Not as bad as I feared, but I should have lost a lot more. It’s frustrating. I need to recommit.

ย

No luck with yoga or massages yet.

Got my teeth cleaned, and thought about First Aid for old injuries.

I still feel quite tired from my trip.

Beauty: presence

  • Pick a hair style and commit to growing it in (Discipline).
  • Plan 2017 Winter and Summer wardrobes.
๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚As it turns out, my hair appointments weren’t booked for the days I asked for them, so I’m looking a bit scraggly right now.

Planned my 2017 Winter Wardrobe, and started buying. Also made a head start on Summer by getting some of my 2016 Summer Wardrobe shortlist on sale. One of my new dresses will make an excellent picnic outfit.

DB bought me some red ugg boots for my birthday, and I am ecstatic about them – so warm and snuggly. And so red!

Beauty: home

  • Develop a plan for decorating and upgrading through 2017.
  • Execute the plan.
  • Complete all tasks required by the plan (Discipline).
 ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜No progress this month.
Beauty: garden

  • Develop a 2017 native plant landscaping plan for privacy.
  • Execute the plan.
  • Complete all tasks required by the plan (Discipline).
๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ™‚We bought a chainsaw in response to some storm damage, and have done some hard pruning. I think we both secretly want more damage so we can get it out again.
Friendship: friends

  • Book 2017 lunches, coffees and dinners with local friends.
  • Join Writers Victoria and attend meetings at least monthly (Discipline).
  • Join a local chapter of Toastmasters and attend at least monthly (Discipline).
๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜Have been to lunches, but not made it to any meetings. Need to get onto this.

Having seen my first picture of my mother’s mother, I was kind of haunted by her and all the other unknown generations.

Didn’t stop me suggesting a Stress Free Picnic Dinner Party.

Friendship: creatures

  • Book 2017 vet appointments for the dogs.
  • Develop habitats for native creatures (shared with Garden).
๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚I think my pretty boy has finally forgiven me. Both dogs are very friendly since I got home.

Lots of kookaburras around lately. They have early morning singing duels with the Magpies – that’s what living on the City fringe is all about.

Friendship: contribution

  • Develop a sharing program.
  • Where possible purchase from small or local suppliers.
๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚My chosen non-profit removed the “donate now” button from its website!!!

I found a new one and my donations are up to date.

Pleasure: adventure

  • Plan and do one new thing each month.
  • Plan an overseas vacation for 2018.
๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜No progress on this, unless you count dashing to Perth (as I do) which is so different to what I remember that it was kind of like overseas.

I commend the City on its modern public transport grid.

And I offered suggestions on planning for emergency trips.

Pleasure: recharge

  • Turn the computer off by 9 pm.
  • Read a book each week (Discipline).
 ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚Doing well.

Book reading on track. They seem to be bigger and fatter than I remember. But then again, I don’t spend two hours a day commuting nowadays.

Wisdom: growth

  • Read a book each week (shared with Recharge).
  • Visit a historically or culturally significant venue or event each month.
๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜‰Listened to many many podcasts.

Railed against representative government, and argued that you should be grateful to be alive.

I’m counting Perth as culturally significant, though I didn’t get to see as many sites as I would have liked.

Wealth: Business Development

  • Select and attend a business-related conference or event โ€“ real not virtual.
  • Select and attend a marketing course (real or virtual).
  • Consider buying advertising to market my products and services.
 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜No progress.
Wealth: income

  • Earn $1,000 a month.
  • Re-develop CV and re-register with employment agencies.
๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜February royalties were 3.17% of target, making total 2017 royalties 0.72% of target to date.

Haven’t done anything about my CV, but I’ve had a few editing jobs, so I feel virtuous about that.

According to the Productivity Journal, March 2017 was a disaster (and I need to take more time to write legibly – good luck future biographer). There were fallen tree branches to clear up. Plus my mother going in and out of the hospital, many tortured hours on the phone trying to find out what was going on and many more trying to decide if and when to fly over. And then trying to recover.
