The last few months have been so busy I barely saw it coming, and now, all of a sudden, it’s my 2024 transplantiversary – my 13th!

The last few months have been so busy I barely saw it coming, and now, all of a sudden, it’s my 2024 transplantiversary – my 13th!
My 2021 transplantiversary marks the TENTH year of my transplant! It feels like a real achievement, and I feel like I should get it a gift to commemorate the day we met.
Well, that’s the 2017 Transplantiversary gone – six years now. And the transplanted kidney is still doing well; there’s no sign of the rapid degeneration I feared after my 2016 Transplantiversary. Though it’s still a good reminder that there is still a lot of living that I want to do. The major downside this year[…]READ MORE?
As I write, today is my 2023 Transplantiversary, though you won’t see this post for a few days more. It was 2011 when the call came, and I berated the doctor for ringing and ringing all my numbers continuously until I finally answered. It’s shocking, but not unexpected. After all, a transplant is not a cure; it’s just an excellent band-aid. On average a[…]READ MORE?
It’s that time again – the 2022 transplantiversary. Eleven years and counting – officially past the nice, neat, predictable transplanted lifetime.
Here I am at the 2018 Transplantiversary. Another year post-transplant – seven now. And as far as the transplant goes, it’s all good. There has been some deterioration, but no worse than a “normal” person suffers over an average year. At least, that’s what my new, slightly more aggressive nephrologist tells me anyway. The colonoscopy[…]READ MORE?
Today is my fourth birthday or transplantiversary if you prefer. I usually do a Birthday Stocktake, and since my transplant, I have done them for its anniversary too. And the 2015 Transplantiversary Stocktake looks good. This time last year I took the opportunity to do some deeper thinking about what my ideal universe was like. What were its[…]READ MORE?
