I had my second cataract surgery not long ago.
When the bandage came off, I was surprised (again) that the sun shines brightly.
And that the brightness renders the ordinary suddenly glorious.
Even the dented old blue rubbish skip with a scrape of red paint (presumably someone’s car) was beautiful in all its detail.
The beauty was there all along, it just took another new eye to see it.
I can’t believe it took less than three months to lose the understanding of how amazing it is to see. I must try harder to really see it all.

You can see more of my Haiku here.
