Light in the darkness

After a week of general rubbishness, a thought I saw the dimmest light in the darkness.

There are a lot of bible verses about light in the darkness, suggesting Jesus light’s your way, but this post is not about that, though it is about seeing your way through.

As a general rule, our language is visual.

We say things like “I see,” when “I hear” would be a more appropriate response.

There are of course people who whose frame of reference is audible, or kinesthetic (relating to the body), but most of us rely on our visual abilities.

But, many of those still follow the masses, and see how far they’ve come, or the path ahead of us.

As children, we instinctively knew monsters are afraid of even the dimmest light, so we wanted light in our rooms to scare them away. Or at least so we could see them coming and start screaming to give Mum plenty of time to come to the rescue.

When the boss presents their grand vision of the future, we might not see it, but for the sake of a quiet life, we pretend we do. And we just get on with doing what has to be done.

By now you probably get I’m a visual person, following my own light in the darkness.

And the last week or two has been quite dark, but now I can see the dimmest light. I have a sort of plan to get me back into to the bright daylight.
