My latest Haiku: the feeling of bliss you get when your tax is done. Especially when you remember that it has taken you a decade to get your tax affairs in order. Yes, well… That is an exaggeration but it seems to have taken an inordinate amount of time. It feels like an immense achievement in the order of scaling Mt Everest. Like there really should be a press conference with photography flash bulbs going off all round. (The old magnesium ones that pop and fizzle). Not to mention journalists lining up to interview me, and ask “What one piece of advice would you give to those doing their tax returns in the future?” And I would reply, “Don’t leave it until the last minute!”
