Made some progress in February 2020, but I feel the year has already run away without me and I’ll not be able to catch up.

Maybe that’s because my to-do list seems much bigger with the whole quarter on it, instead of just a few weeks. And I’m already behind. Plenty of time to adjust my expectations for next quarter.

VirtueJanFebNotes
Pleasure: Adventure
Plan and take an international vacation late Q3/early Q4.
😐🙁I started planning my vacation, but I’m looking at the way COVID-19 is developing and I’m not sure an international vacation will be possible this year (what with the immune suppression and all). I’m still going to plan, but not book just yet.

We might take a week or two driving around regional Victoria instead.
Pleasure: Recharge
Read 78 books
🙂🙂Lots of books this month (doing some project research). And I’ve found some new favourite authors to follow up Dead HeatA Murder in TimeThe Edna Walling Book of Australian Garden DesignEdna Walling’s Folly FarmWriting with Chronic IllnessThe Murder StoneTea TherapyYour Beauty MarkNurses of AustraliaGardens in the CloudsSupercharged FoodGardens In TimeDigital MinimalismI Thought It Was Just MeThe Art of Balanced LivingStillness is the KeyPractical Ayurveda

Thought about the modern place of pleasure.
Friendship: Friends
I love meeting new people, and as I am friendly and outgoing, I make friends easily.
🙂😐I’ve had a rash of cancellations and it’s beginning to look like that whole on-line forum thing might be the way of the future.
Friendship: Creatures
My creatures are happy and healthy and find my garden a haven.
🙂😐Pretty Girl is struggling on, though she’s becoming increasingly fussy about her food. She’s also more restless at night, and it’s beginning to look like I might as well go nocturnal too.
Friendship: Contribution
I share my knowledge, time, and money with those who need it.
• Develop a charitable works programme.
🙁😐There’s the forums and that’s about it.

Though I did write about what wealthy people used to do and check out the cleanest public bathroom cubicles.
Beauty: body
I enjoy exercising my lean, healthy 59 kg body several times a week.
• Eat < 5g of salt and sugar per day.
• Walk 10,000 steps per day.
• Sleep 8 hours each night.
🙂
68.8 kg
😐
69.3 kg
Got as low as 68.1 kg (lowest since August 2018) and then had a couple of take-out days and popped back up with a bit of fluid retention.

Discovered that high blood pressure and the weight are my key issues right now, so I need to double down on managing salt and losing that weight.

Not getting enough good sleep really sucks the joy out of everything.
Beauty: garden
My garden is peaceful (lush and abundant, providing habitats, weather protection and a mystical threshold)
Q1: plan garden and start landscaping.
Q2: finish landscaping and start planting.
Q3: nurture and enjoy.
Q4: nurture and enjoy.
🙂🙂I haven’t got around to measuring out the garden or drawing a plan, but I’m ready to start selecting plants. And figuring out how to do the back fence.

I’m looking forward to having a peaceful garden and enjoying the wildlife that lives in it.
Beauty: home
I live in a comfortable home that soothes my soul.
🙂😐I’m a bit behind on my housekeeping. I should care more, but I’m too tired.
Wisdom: growth
I learn and grow every day.
• Visit a historically or culturally significant venue or event each month.
😐😐Everything seems cataclysmic right now. Fires, floods, pestilence. It seems the wisest thing to do is to prep for doomsday, and then live the hell out of every second you’ve got left.

I have to stop watching the news.

Thought about healthy habits.
Wealth: time
Turn the computer off by 7 pm.
🙂🙂Shutting my computer off is easy. Not opening up another device is somewhat less easy.

February 2020 does not have a massive presence in my journal; it’s mainly research notes and NO stickers. I skipped so many days it’s hard to know where to start up again.

I wrote six short stories, and 20,474 new fiction words, though I broke my long story streak (28 days).

How was your February 2020?
