August’s Haiku is inspired by dawn, the start of a new day.
I’ve noticed that each new day is beginning earlier and earlier.
They bring a tiny bit more sunshine with the earnest promise of warmer weather to come. Even though the pre-dawn sky is barely lighter and brighter than the day before.
Sometimes when the weather forecast is for rain, it turns out fine.
The sky is a brilliant blue promise of summer to come.
Just long enough to raise steam from the damp ground.
It feels like soon the winter will be over.
I can’t wait, even though I know I will soon be complaining it’s too hot and longing for winter.
