2021 Summer Wardrobe Update

2021 Summer Wardrobe Update

Once again the weather is changeable, even for “Four Seasons in One Day” Melbourne, and it’s time to look at the 2022 Summer wardrobe update.

2021 Summer Wardrobe Plan

First, let’s recap the plan; essentials plus a party dress for $1000.

  • Bras – at least two good ones, and a sports bra say $500
  • Undies – at least 10, say $150
  • Hat – say $50
  • Dressy occasion outfit, say $300

Still looking for the same building blocks:

  • Colour: black.
  • Pattern: perhaps trying larger patterns like a single flower or slogan.
  • Silhouette: My favourite is still a 3:2 ratio – long top over a long bottom (e.g. tunic over jeans.
  • Design Line: Semi-fitted.
  • Texture: Light and Smooth.

2021 Summer Wardrobe Update

So the plan didn’t quite work out as hoped:

  • Didn’t get to the corsetier (who IS still open thank goodness).
  • Did get some undies ($169)
  • Got some hats that didn’t fit ($70), then got some that did ($195).
  • Chiffon skirt and glittery top ($386) on sale!
  • Unexpectedly, my sandals finally fell apart, and as Clever Girl ate both my indoor outdoor slippers, I had to get some more ($448)

Total of $1,268, which wouldn’t have left me anything had I made it to the corsetier for a fitting.

The undies are already on the too big side (thanks to the Q1 weight loss plan), and while I have a party outfit, it hasn’t been worn yet thanks to social distancing and venue capacity limits over the Christmas season.

Wardrobe Learnings

Like Winter 2021, I struggled relying on mail order, because I couldn’t get to the shops. And I struggled with self-esteem as I wore saggy, baggy and soiled clothes that didn’t fit well.

I definitely feel it’s time to give up on “cheap” clothes, and go back to decent ones regardless of whether I’m going out or not.

Just have to see whether I can get used to that again!

How did your 2022 Summer wardrobe update go?
